Sunshine Coast Haematology and Oncology Clinic (SCHOC) is a wellness focused day hospital. At our Clinic, people undergoing treatment for Haematology (blood) and Oncology (cancer) conditions are cared for in a comprehensive manner. SCHOC is the first free standing Day Hospital in Queensland (Australia) specifically established for the treatment of Haematologic and Oncologic patients. The concept evolved from the recognition of the need for a facility with specialised staff, allowing out-patient treatment in a pleasant and caring environment. Our Hospital is licensed with Queensland Health and is contracted with all the major Private Health funds. Not only are the local population able to make use of the facilities at our Clinic, but also people who are holidaying on the Sunshine Coast. In the past we have had the pleasure of caring for interstate and overseas visitors. If you know of somebody who may use this service, it would be helpful to contact the Clinic and enquire as to what documentation is required to continue treatment whilst the person is in the area. We are very proud of our relaxing and non-clinical approach within the Clinic. Staff at SCHOC are all part of a team, which ensures the best interests of the person undergoing treatment are respected. We encourage people to empower and involve themselves, as much or as little as they wish during the treatment. The Clinic has a relaxing outlook into a courtyard with a water fountain. Soft easy listening music is provided to complete the ambience of the Clinic. |

Medical and Nursing CareAt our Clinic we strive for excellence, focusing on the individual in a relaxing environment. By catering to the patient's needs we aim to maintain health and wellness. Every patient is seen by the Physician prior to each cycle of treatment. The Doctor therefore is available to answer any questions or queries the patient or family may have. Nursing staff ensure that people understand their treatment, and take the time to listen to side effects or problems that people are experiencing and work with them to combat these. If people require referrals to other professionals, this will be attended to. All people undergoing treatment at our Clinic receive follow-up phone calls. The patient is able to maintain autonomy and promote empowerment for their future self-care and decision making on discharge from the Clinic. |
